The couple was honored “for their contributions to the Center, the University and the Houston community” during the center’s annual “Irish Gala,” held on November 2nd at the Houstonian Hotel.

"The Irish story, in some great part, is the American story,” said Sean Tracey. "I love the Center for Irish Studies, and Kari and I have supported the institute for a long time. We're very honored."

Tracey graduated from the University of St. Thomas in 1988, and currently serves on the advisory board of the William J. Flynn Center for Irish Studies.

More than 400 people attended the event, including Daniel Mulhall, the Ambassador of Ireland to the United States. Mr. Mulhall gave a presentation at the event, which was chaired by Charlene and John O’Shea.

Tracey & Fox Personal Injury Law Firm Open New Office in Dallas

Respected Texas personal injury law firm Tracey & Fox recently opened a new office conveniently located in downtown Dallas.

“As longtime members of the Dallas legal community, we’re proud to provide this space for people in the Dallas area to come and meet with one of our attorneys to discuss their legal needs,” Dallas personal injury attorney Sean Tracey said.

The law firm’s Dallas office – located at 1412 Main Street, Suite 623 – is one of three offices maintained by the law firm in Texas. Tracy & Fox also operate offices in Houston and San Antonio. And if necessary, an attorney from the firm can meet with clients at any other location, according to Dallas attorney Shawn Fox.

“Our clients’ needs always come first at Tracey & Fox,” Fox said. “And that starts right with where we meet with you for your free case evaluation. If you can’t come to us, we can come to you – whether that’s in your home, your hospital room or wherever’s convenient for you.”

Houston Attorney Urges Pedestrians To Report Dangerous Areas

A Houston attorney is calling on residents to help identify the most dangerous locations for pedestrians in the city.

Attorney Sean Tracey of the law firm Tracey & Fox said the Houston mayor’s stated priority of finding these locations and addressing problems that put pedestrians and bicyclists at risk presents a unique opportunity for people who live in the area.

“The issue of pedestrian safety has the attention of city officials right now,” Tracey said. “And nobody knows which spots are dangerous for pedestrians more than the residents who regularly walk in those locations.”

During his “State of Mobility” address on May 24, Mayor Sylvester Turner said he had asked the Public Works Department to work with BikeHouston and the city’s Bicycle Advisory Committee on identifying ten locations of high priority safety concerns for pedestrians and bicyclists. He promised an evaluation of each site and quick action if street design was determined to be contributing to the problem.

Tracey urged residents of the Houston area to contact the Public Works Department with their  concerns about specific streets, intersections or other locations that pose a risk to pedestrians.

“This area has had a problem with pedestrian safety,” Tracey said. “Pedestrian crashes take too many lives and leave too many injured. And now we all have an opportunity to try to help make our roads safer for people who are just out walking.”

One study from Smart Growth America ranked the Houston area among the top twenty most dangerous locations for pedestrians in the country. Another study from the Alliance for Biking and Walking determined there were more than 20 pedestrian fatalities in Houston for every 10,000 people who walk to work.

Tracey said pedestrian crashes are often caused by inattentive drivers, but noted that some changes have been made to help reduce the risk to pedestrians, such as lower speed limits, traffic signals and reducing the number of lanes on a roadway.

Houston residents can contact the Public Works Department at 832-395-2500 or pw**********@*******tx.gov.

Rebecca King Named Partner At Tracey & Fox

HOUSTON – The law firm of Tracey & Fox is pleased to announce attorney Rebecca King has been named a partner.

Since joining Tracey & Fox in 2014, she has worked in the areas of pharmaceutical drug litigation, defective medical devices, product liability, premises liability and wrongful death. She is licensed to practice law in several different states and districts including Texas, Arkansas, Pennsylvania and the Supreme Court of the United States.

“Rebecca has provided excellent representation for our clients and has been instrumental in our pursuit of justice, particularly in mass tort cases,” said founding partner Sean Tracey. “She shares our commitment to helping improve the lives of people who have been hurt through negligence.”

In 2015, King was appointed to the plaintiff’s steering committee in multidistrict litigation on behalf of women harmed by the use of power morcellators. Many women developed cancer or other life-threatening health problems after undergoing surgery involving the devices.

“I think we’re seeing a lot of women’s health issues in these various mass torts over the past few years,” she said at the time. “It’s necessary to involve women because we bring a woman’s perspective to the case. We can identify with these clients in a way that’s unique.”

In 2016, the Honorable Jane L. Johnson appointed King Plaintiffs’ Co-Lead Counsel of the consolidated power morcellator cases pending in the Los Angeles division of the Superior Court for the State of California.

She was also elected co-chairperson of the Laparoscopic Power Morcellator litigation group for the American Association for Justice.

In 2012, she worked with several other attorneys representing plaintiffs in multidistrict litigation for birth defect claims involving the use of Zoloft during pregnancy.

King received her Juris Doctor from Baylor Law School in 2000. She is a member of the American Association for Justice, the American Bar Association, the Houston Bar Association, the Houston Trial Lawyers Association, the Harris County Bar Association, the State Bar of Texas and the Texas Trial Lawyers Association.
